Founded under the dark canopy of The Black Shroud, The Dusklight Vanguard seeks to stand as a company willing to take on the trivial and strange while also contending with the realm's ceaseless issues. We pride ourselves on bettering the realm and each other through lavish endeavors and personal problem-solving alike. Adventurers of all races and backgrounds are welcome, as we are always eager to grow our ranks and broaden our contacts.
Who We Are
The Dusklight Vanguard is an independent group of sorcerers, warriors, and craftsmen that pine for more and would seek sanctuary and camaraderie among a band of like-minded adventurers. Those with little experience or troubled pasts are as welcome as the rest, provided they too are willing to cooperate with their fellow members and aid in the upkeep of our operations.Our focus lies on aiding The Black Shroud and the rest of Eorzea in ways the Grand Companies often cannot due to red tape, legality, or apathy. We provide succor to those in need through fabulous displays of charity and defensive force, in no small part thanks to the generous benefactors that support and fund our exploits.While we are hardly beholden to our investors’ every whim, we work to keep our professional relationships on good terms in return for the financial backing. Woefully, this often manifests as menial or outlandish requests from our wealthy patrons including everything from simple guard duty to investigating rival nobility to participating in violent game shows for sport.Despite the cost of business, we find it worth the hassle so we might further pursue our own endeavors. We pride ourselves on the positive impact we have on the innocent and downtrodden of the realm, going to great lengths to ensure the safety of those unable to defend themselves. With no shortage of adventures to be had, no shortage of gil to spend on our benevolent agenda (there is a tangible limit to our coffers, pray do not wreck the estate), and no shortage of discoveries to be made across the star, we eagerly delve headfirst into the many issues facing our world in an attempt to provide solution.Recently, our focus lies upon aiding the Maelstrom with an unusual blood-related affliction. Additionally, we find ourselves embarking on a pirate-filled adventure, silencing a crazed ancient necromancer, and putting an end to an eccentric voidsent that masquerades as the twin god Nald'Thal!

The Dusklight Vanguard «Dusk» is a Shroud-based Roleplay FC with a heavy focus on characters and story. It is our goal to provide our members with fun and engaging plotlines with an emphasis on character choice and consequence. We seek to maintain a welcoming community for new and experienced RPers alike and want each and every one of our members to feel important and involved within the community!We are looking for a wide variety of members to fill our ranks from folks interested in combat and action-heavy events, to wacky shenanigans, to heavier themes and investigative work. We are lore-compliant but willing to bend regarding certain topics on a case-by-case basis, feel free to ask if you are worried about an idea being too outlandish.We do require all members both ICly and OOCly to be 18+, but do not require they be on the Mateus server to join us so long as they are in our CWLS and Discord for coordination of events. We are LGBTQ+ friendly and do not allow bullying, witch-hunting, gossip mongering or instigating OOC drama of any kind. Learn more about our rules here!

Looking to Join Us?
Wonderful! We have a two-step application process including an online application and then IC-Interview which also serves as an introduction to the group itself! After you apply an officer will look over the application and you should receive a message in-game or on Discord within 48 hours of sending it in, though we aim for less!

IC Rules
Do not commit crimes for the sake of committing crimes
Crime is okay but try not to do it too often. Needless cruelty and murdering in cold blood is out of the question entirely. We're vigilantes, not villains.
No sexual activities in public areas
Do not partake in sexually charged activities within any public area of the estate, nor in a room not belonging to you or your consenting partner(s).
Do not trust the Gridanian Government
If you happen to get in trouble with the Gridanian government or summon green wrath, do not, under any circumstance, speak with any authoritative figure save Raynn-E-Ponni.
Be smart about illicit magics
If you are using illicit magics, absolutely do not do them within the Shroud, the only exception being the company estate (See next rule).
No magic within the Company Estate
Magic usage within the estate is limited to the training chambers. Using it beyond the training chambers will result in a swift smack upside the head.
Do not vandalize company property
We do not pay for this stuff, our landlord does and I'd much rather keep from paying even more of a premium than we already do. Thank you.
Do not make me turn this company around
Be kind to your fellow members. I have better things to do than parent you. You're a grown arse person, save the childish name-calling for duels and fight nights.
Do not be a horrible person to your fellows
Doubling down on the last rule, intolerance based on a person's race, sexual orientation, gender or anything else relevant to the previous is entirely unacceptable. Go join the Woodwailers.
Never forget you are welcome here
If you can lend a hand, please do so. We're all friends, we all have needs. Help others as they may help you one day. Additionally, do not hesitate to reach out in times of need.
OOC Rules
Keep it civil
Be respectful in chats. Bullying, harassment, witch-hunting, and gossip-mongering is not allowed. Do not create, join or encourage arguments regarding politics, religion or controversial topics or other members. We are an all-inclusive community, discrimination is not tolerated. No gore, spam or bots or ban evasion allowed. If you are made uncomfortable by another member, please let the officers know and we will do our utmost to resolve it.
Positive reinforcement is encouraged
Here at The Dusklight Vanguard we want to foster a friendly and welcoming environment. Looking down on and belittling other members is absolutely not accepted. Constructive criticism is wonderful, but do not provide it unless the member is seeking it specifically. We're all just here to have fun with our online dolls and fun stories!
Abide by roleplaying etiquette
Be courteous when roleplaying with others. God-moding, metagaming, canon-sniping and overpowered characters are not allowed. We are lore abiding, but are willing to bend on a case-by-case basis, and welcome you to reach out if you are worried about an idea! ERP must be kept in private channels and in your own private areas.
Personal initiative
While we in leadership do what we can to make everyone feel included, it is also the responsibility of the member to involve themselves in the FC just the same! Looking for help with PvE or PvP? Ask about it in the chat! Help others when you can! See someone sitting alone at an RP? Reach out! Sitting alone at an RP? Join the conversation! We love seeing people get involved!
Content warnings/FC Discord
Please take care to keep our Discord channels clean. Keep spoilers in the spoiler channel, and spoiler-tag and label mild NSFW in whatever channel it fits in. No pornography or otherwise hardcore content allowed in the Discord. Gore and NSFL is not allowed. When in doubt, spoiler-tag it!
Staying active and real life/burnout
We completely understand that real life comes first and encourage our members to focus on themselves first before the FC. If you need to take a break, all that we ask if you let an officer know so we do not kick you as we have a 45 day inactive period before someone is removed. Aside from that, please keep an eye on our events calendar, attend the events you can!
